The Amazing Spider-Man swings into action with the first teaser trailer

Not to be outdone by Warner Bros. – who finally delivered an HD version of The Dark Knight Rises trailer earlier this week – Sony have now released the first teaser trailer from The Amazing Spider-Man, Marc Webb’s upcoming retelling of the webslinger’s origins starring Andrew Garfield (The Social Network).

Joining Garfield in the all-star cast for the reboot are Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Sally Field as Aunt May and Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy.

The trailer is expected to be attached to Captain America: The First Avenger when it gets released Stateside this Friday, but you can check it out right here…

Not quite as exciting as The Dark Knight Rises trailer it has to be said, but a decent effort nonetheless. Although I do hope they keep all that FPS stuff restricted to the trailer.

The Amazing Spider-Man is set for a 3D release on July 3rd, 2012.

 • I really like Garfield and love the glimpses of his Peter here. I have to say I found this more interesting Dark Knight Rises trailer because with this they couldn't just stuff in lots from previous films. But I agree about FPS stuff, atrocious and nearly ruined whole thing for me

 • Personally, I thought the trailer was going to be a real stinker.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Andrew Garfield, and Marc Webb directing should be interesting, but even then I was apprehensive because I loved Raimi's vision and I think he really locked onto what the comics were about.

That said, I really liked the trailer – at least it was something a bit

 • Why does this need a reboot??!?
