Best dressed honoured at the Costume Designers Guild Awards

The 14th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards were held last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California, hosted by Glee star Jane Lynch. Awards were given out for costume design in seven categories including film, TV and commercials. The ‘Excellence in Contemporary Film’ award went to Trish Summerville for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the ‘Excellence in Period Film’ award was given to Arianne Phillips for W.E., and the ‘Excellence in Fantasy Film’ award was handed to Jany Temime for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The Costume Designers Guild gave out a number of honorary awards too. Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Pearl Harbour) received the ‘Spotlight Award’ and renowned costume designer Marlene Stewart (who has worked on movies including Real Steel, Tropic Thunder and Terminator 2: Judgement Day) was handed the ‘Career Achievement in Film Award’. Deborah Hopper and Clint Eastwood were given the ‘Distinguished Collaborator Award’ for their work together. The Emmy award-winning costume designer and the four-time Oscar winner have collaborated on over 22 films, including Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Flags of Our Fathers, Changeling, Gran Torino, Invictus and J. Edgar.
