Game of Thrones reigns supreme with second season hype

Even though Game of Thrones returns for a second season on April 1st, the HBO fantasy drama is no fool when it comes garnering critical and viewer support; at the 2011 Emmy Awards, the breakout hit for the acclaimed American specialty channel won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Peter Dinklage) and Outstanding Main Title Design as well as achieving a 9.4 rating on the IMDb. To build on the growing anticipation, a new second season trailer has been released titled Power and Grace which features familiar and new characters such as Robb Stark (Richard Madden), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Dinklage), Daenerys Targarygen (Emilia Clarke), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and Melisandre (Carise van Houten).

The ten new episodes are based on the second installment in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by author George R.R. Martin called A Clash of Kings; the description of the novel from Amazon.com reads:

The Seven Kingdoms have come apart. Joffrey, Queen Cersei's sadistic son, ascends the Iron Throne following the death of Robert Baratheon, the Usurper, who won it in battle; Queen Cersei's family, the Lannisters, fight to hold it for him. Both the dour Stannis and the charismatic Renly Baratheon, Robert's brothers, also seek the throne. Robb Stark, declared King in the North, battles to avenge his father's execution and retrieve his sister from Joffrey's court. Daenerys, the exiled last heir of the former ruling family, nurtures three dragons and seeks a way home. Meanwhile the Night's Watch, sworn to protect the realm from dangers north of the Wall, dwindle in numbers, even as barbarian forces gather and beings out of legend stalk the Haunted Forest.
