2012 is shaping up to be a big year for Batman fans, but while all eyes are on the closing chapter of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Warner Bros. Animation are quietly prepping the Caped Crusader’s return to the small screen with the upcoming CG animated series Beware the Batman, which has just received its first teaser trailer today.
The new show has been developed by Glen Murakami – whose previous animated superhero credits include Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Teen Titans and The Batman – and is said to deliver “a cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise.” As part of this, Beware the Batman will see the Caped Crusader tackling some of the more obscure members of the Rogue’s Gallery – including villains such as Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie – with help from a gun-toting Alfred Pennyworth and ‘swordstress’ side-kick, Katana.

Beware the Batman is set to join Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice as part of Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block later this year. Of course, before then we also have the release of The Dark Knight Rises to look forward to, with Christian Bale reprising his role as Gotham’s silent guardian alongside Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard.
