Prometheus, the new film in the 'Alien' universe, has enjoyed a distinct marketing campaign thus far, centring on viral videos promoting Weyland Industries - a company from the future that produces androids. They even have their own website.
And now we have a new viral video, advertising their latest model - David (Michael Fassbender), an android capable of "understanding human emotions, although I do not feel them myself." Which pretty much screams "I WILL MURDER ALL HUMANS BY THE END OF THE FILM"...
The viral is overly eerie, which would hint at a case of misdirection. After all, androids turning into murder machines isn't the freshest idea; Alien itself was graced by Ash (Ian Holm).
Prometheus is directed by Ridley Scott, who also helmed Alien, the continuity's first installment. It stars Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Idris Elba (Thor), Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Guy Pearce (The Proposition) and Charlize Theron (Monster), and will be released in the U.K. on June 1st.
Flash Fact - The androids' names in the Alien films follow an alphabetical pattern. In Alien it was Ash, Aliens and Alien 3 had Bishop, and in Alien: Resurrection it was Call. Prometheus, which is described as a 'prequel' to these, has David.
