I’m not really sure if this was meant to be a secret seeing as we’ve known about it for some time, but Skyfall producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have today announced that the technical whizz Q is set to return to the 007 franchise for Bond’s 23rd (official) adventure, with Ben Wishaw (Bright Star, Cloud Atlas) stepping into the role previously portrayed on screen by Peter Burton, Desmond Llewelyn and John Cleese.
Accompanying the announcement was the first official shot of Wishaw in character, which arrived online via EW…
Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty), Skyfall sees Daniel Craig returning for a third outing as 007. According to the official synopsis, Bond’s loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested when her past comes back to haunt her and, when MI6 comes under attack, the super spy must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.
Joining Craig and Dench in the cast are Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Naomie Harris (Miami Vice), Albert Finney (The Bourne Legacy), Helen McCrory (Hugo) and Bérénice Marlohe (R.I.S. Police scientifique), while Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) will star as the villain, Silva.
Skyfall is released in the UK on the 26th of October 2012, and the US on the 9th of November.
