Johnny Depp confirmed for next Wes Anderson film

Tuesday, 17 July 2012

Following his second most successful film yet, Moonrise Kingdom (Bruce Willis), Wes Anderson has revealed the title of his next movie and its first confirmed actor - The Grand Budapest Hotel and Johnny Depp. Respectively, obviously. Depp sure does enjoy working with directors who make pretty much the same film over and over again (*cough* Tim Burton *cough*).

Anderson was rumoured to have approached Depp last week, along with Wes-regulars Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody and Willem Dafoe. He apparently contacted two others newbies - Jude Law and Murder, She Wrote's Angela Lansbury, but there's been no word on their involvement yet.

The name of the film pretty much confirms Anderson's earlier statement that it will be set in Europe. But you never can tell with these arthouse sorts. They love irony.

That's all we know about the film so far, other the Anderson quote saying "it's not very family friendly." Depp + hotel + non-PG sounds like my kind of debauchery.

Perhaps the short film that prologues The Darjeeling Limited, Hotel Chevalier, was Anderson's test run for this next project. Here it is to remind you. And for the Natalie Portman-only-in-socks bit:

SLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW MOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTIOOOOOOOON. Anderson loves it.
