According to Total Film, British singer Adele will provide the vocal backdrop to the opening credits of Skyfall, next month’s new James Bond film. The acclaimed youngster has long been rumoured to be in the running for the prestigious role, with both Daniel Craig and the film’s producers dropping hints. Earlier this year Adele herself seemed to give the game away on The Jonathan Ross Show.
Total Film also reveals that the song will simply be titled Skyfall, unlike the last Bond theme by Jack White and Alicia Keys, who went for Another Way To Die as their theme for Quantum of Solace. Bond fans can expect a return to the classic themes of the franchise in its 50th anniversary year. Adele is more than capable of delivering stunning power ballads in the style of Shirley Bassey, who belted out themes in the past for Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker.
Skyfall is set for an October 26th release in the UK, whilst 007 will only appear in the US on November 9th. Director Sam Mendes is in charge of the 23rd Bond film, which is Daniel Craig’s third. Craig will co-star alongside Judi Dench, Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Berenice Marlohe, Helen McCrory and Javier Bardem.
