Fox Searchlight has today announcing a limited November 23rd release date for its upcoming feature Hitchcock, which sees Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) taking on the role of the legendary British filmmaker for an adaptation of Stephen Rebello’s book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.
Directed by Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil), Hitchcock sees Hopkins leading a stellar cast that includes Helen Mirren (The Queen), Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers) as Janet Leigh and James D’Arcy (W.E.) as Anthony Perkins, alongside the likes of Jessica Biel (Total Recall), Toni Colette (Fright Night), Michael Stuhlbarg (Men in Black III), Danny Huston (Wrath of the Titans), Kurtwood Smith (RoboCop) and Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid).
Accompanying the release date was the first teaser poster from the film, and with the release now imminent we should probably expect a trailer in the next week or so…
Before Hitchcock arrives in cinemas, Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) will appear as Hitch alongside Sienna Miller’s (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) Tippi Hedren in HBO’s The Girl, which will air in the States next month. Meanwhile A&E are also developing the Psycho prequel series Bates Motel, with Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) attached to star as Norma Bates.
