New poster for Oz: The Great and Powerful teases a Wicked Witch

Sam Raimi returns to the director’s chair for the first time since 2009’s Drag Me to Hell with Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming 3D fantasy adventure Oz: The Great and Powerful, and the studio has just released a brand new theatrical poster, which features our first look at one of the film’s three witches

A prequel to L. Frank Baum’s children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (and the 1939 MGM classic The Wizard of Oz), Oz: The Great and Powerful stars James Franco (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician who finds himself swept away to the Land of Oz where he meets three witches – Theodora (Mila Kunis; Ted), Evanora (Rachel Weisz; The Bourne Legacy) and Glinda (Michelle Williams; My Week with Marilyn) – who are not convinced he is the great wizard who everyone has been expecting.

Oz: The Great and Powerful has been written by Mitchell Kapner (The Whole Nine Yards) and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rise of the Guardians) and also features Zach Braff (Scrubs), Abigail Spencer (This Means War), Tim Holmes (Real Steel), Martin Klebba (Zombieland) and Joey King (The Dark Knight Rises). It is due for release on March 8th, 2013; watch the first trailer here.
