First look at Spidey’s new suit for The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Since production began on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – great title by the way – Marc Webb has been teasing all sorts of things as he tweets various images and cryptic clues. Last week he hinted at some changes to the design of Spider-Man’s suit, and now we have our first image of it…

It is very reminiscent of the Sam Raimi series suit but I’m liking it and find it a great improvement on last year’s version. The larger, white eyes stand out better and appear a lot more, um, spidery.

That it doesn’t appear too dissimilar from the Raimi series suit will have some people up in arms no doubt, however I like the look and appreciate that with Spidey’s suit there’s not too many variations that you can create.

I do remain cautious with where this series is heading however, and adding the now similar suit design to the apparent over abundance of characters: Electro, Rhino, Mary Jane, Harry Osborn and potentially Black Cat being added to the roster for the sequel I’m wondering if this isn’t a little case of history repeating itself.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on April 18th, 2014 in the UK and May 2nd, 2014 in North America, with Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Sally Field returning to the cast alongside Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained), Paul Giamatti (Sideways), Shailene Woodley (The Descendants), Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) and Colm Feore (Thor).

What say you dear reader, like it? Hate it? Sound off in the comments below…

Definitely an improvement over the last hideous version. I thought Andrew Garfield, for me was great in the role, add a great costume (Raimiesque style) and what's not to like. Good times

Looks more like comic book Spidey if you ask me, and that's always a good thing.

I hated the first costume. Everything about it sucked. And the web shooters…. Cool, they weren't organic. But instead of looking like a useful tool, they add a red light. I get why (I guess) but it cheapened it. Drastically.

I've seen other pics of the costume and there's slight bits I'd nit-pick (I've drawn Spiderman for years from various comics) about. But
