Deadline, Marsden will play a rival news anchor to Will Ferrell's Ron Burgundy, who no doubt won’t allow his legendary status as the top newsman in San Diego to be threatened.
Marsden is joining an already jam packed cast for the sequel which includes Christina Applegate (Hall Pass), Steve Carell (The 40 Year Old Virgin), David Koechner (Get Smart) and Paul Rudd (This Is 40) all reprising their roles from the original. It was also recently announced that comedy actress Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) will also be joining the cast of Adam McKay's sequel.
Marsden has been busy of late with a regular guest spot on the final season of 30 Rock where he plays Tina Fey’s love interest. He also recently appeared in Robot & Frank and Bachelorette and can also be seen in Universal’s upcoming crime drama 2 Guns with Denzel Washington (Flight) and Mark Wahlberg (Pain and Gain), as well as Lee Daniels’ The Butler in which he plays JFK.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues is due out in cinemas on December 20th.
