The saga surrounding Sam Mendes’ on-off involvement with the next instalment in the James Bond franchise has drawn to a close today with the news that the Skyfall director will reunite with leading man Daniel Craig to helm the 24th entry in the long-running spy series.

Bond 24 will see Mendes reuniting Skyfall screenwriter John Logan, and the film will hit UK cinemas on October 23rd, 2015 ahead of a North American release on November 6th, 2015. Between 007’s next outing and the likes of The Avengers 2, Star Wars: Episode VII, Pirates of the Caribbean 5, Jurassic Park IV, Independence Day 2, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part II, Finding Dory and Kung Fu Panda 3, 2015 really is shaping up to be the year of the blockbuster sequel.
