Logo and concept art for Star Wars Rebels, John Williams confirmed for Episode VII

Star Wars Celebration Europe kicked off in Messe Essen, Germany yesterday and it is of course an extra special year for fans of the epic space opera; not only is it the thirtieth anniversary of Return of the Jedi, but it’s also the first Celebration since 2005 to take place with a new Star Wars movie on the horizon in Disney and J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode VII. So, does that mean we can expect our first casting announcement? A title unveiling? Well, nothing like that just yet, although we do have a few Star Wars tidbits for you.

Yesterday, Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Warwick Davis (Wicket), Ian McDiarmid (The Emperor), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) kicked off the festivities with a Jedi reunion (presumably Harrison Ford was busy anywhere else), and now we have our first piece of Sequel Trilogy news coming out of the convention with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy confirming that the legendary John Williams is set to continue scoring the saga. Here’s a video of Williams talking about scoring Episode VII

Meanwhile, Disney XD has released the official logo and a selection of concept art from the upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels, which is executive produced by Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class) and Greg Weisman (Young Justice) and takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope
