It seems that the original shock rocker Alice Cooper could be set to swap the stage for the… erm… stage, with the New York Post reporting that the School’s Out singer is in negotiations to join the cast of the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark as the villainous Norman Osborn, a.k.a. the Green Goblin.
According to the report, Turn Off the Dark producer Michael Cohl is looking to “franchise” the $85 million show to stadiums and arenas around the world in an effort to stop it hemorrhaging money, and hopes that the addition of Cooper will help to keep the musical going until such deals can be made. Apparently the rocker would pick up a cool $150,000 a week for his troubles.
Should he sign on for the role, Alice wouldn’t be the only Cooper to appear as Spidey’s arch-nemesis, with Chris Cooper set to portray Norman Osborn alongside Andrew Garfield’s wall-crawler in the upcoming movie sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which hits cinemas in May.
