Breaking Bad may be over but AMC don’t want to give up their extraordinarily popular drama just yet. Having announced that they were ordering a prequel series focusing on Bob Odenkirk’s brilliant Saul Goodman entitled Better Call Saul, show runner Vince Gilligan and and producer Peter Gould have announced that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will return in cameo form.
Gilligan and Gould previously envisaged the series as more of a half hour comedy series but weren’t convinced with the format and have decided to expand the series into hourlong episodes. Previous fears of Gilligan having little control over the series have also been removed with news that he will not only direct the first episode but will also be involved in the day-to-day writing of at least the first series. He will also be overseeing Battle Creek, a new drama for CBS along with House show runner David Shore who will be running the series day-to-day.
In truth, whatever Gilligan does next I will almost certainly watch, and one can presume that plenty will be turning in.
