George A. Romero rules the Empire of the Dead and variant covers of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Godfather of the Zombie Apocalypse will be writing a Marvel comic series called Empire of the Dead.
Welcome to New York City years after the plague has hit.  But just because the Big Apple has been quarantined doesn’t mean that everyone inside is safe!  Flesh-eating zombies roam within the confines of Manhattan…but they’re not the only predator that’s poised and ready to strike!  Who or what is this new menace?
“George A. Romero [Dawn of the Dead] single-handedly created the zombie genre that’s captured the public imagination for decades,” stated Editor In Chief Axel Alonso.  “Now, his unique vision for the silver screen comes to life on the comic book page – a chilling rumination on human nature and man’s place in the food chain, served with a terrifying twist.”
Featuring the artwork of Alex Maleey and New York City-themed variant covers by Arthur Suydam, the project will be unveiled at a New York Comic-Con panel on October 5, 2013 @ 4 pm in Room 1E led by George A. Romero.  Proceeding before the event will be a signing session of an exclusive Empire of the Deadmini-poster by Romero at the Marvel Booth #1354 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
George A. Romero Empire of the Dead #1 goes on sale January 2014.
