Synopsis for Doctor Who 50th anniversary special ‘The Day of the Doctor’

Brief synopsis for Doctor Who 50th anniversary special 'The Day of the Doctor'

A brief synopsis has been released this afternoon by the BBC relating to the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special ‘The Day of The Doctor’…

In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.

That’s all the BBC has given us this afternoon, but with this and the news the of the up and coming trailer/minisode called ‘The Last Day’ we can safely say that the build up to the Doctor’s 50th Anniversary Special has begun.

Written by Steven Moffat and directed by Nick Hurran, ‘The Day of the Doctor’ shall be shown on BBC One and around the world on the November 23rd 2013. We will see the return of David Tennant and Billie Piper as they resume their old Who roles alongside our current Doctor (Matt Smith) and assistant (Jenna-Louise Coleman), in addition to John Hurt who is also playing the Doctor.
