Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine are to star in George C. Wolfe’s (Lackawanna Blues, Nights in Rodanthe) drama Harry and the Butler. Jackson will star as Harry, a one-time Jazz musician residing in New Orleans who has given up on his dreams and spends his days as a mechanic for a derelict roller coaster and his nights in his converted train caboose. After his former mentor gives him a large sum of money, he decides to hire himself an English butler, who will be played by Caine.
When asked about the film, producers Philippe Riviere and Colin Callender responded, “We are very proud to bring together these two great movie icons, Sam Jackson and Michael Caine, under the direction of the great George C. Wolfe. Harry and the Butler follows in the honorable tradition of so many classic films in which a chance encounter between two disparate characters transforms them forever. This is a deeply moving comedy about two men from very different backgrounds who become unlikely friends and help each other to re-discover themselves.”
Harry and the Butler starts shooting in Louisiana in Spring 2014.
