Ernie Hudson up for a role in The Flash

Now that Barry Allen has had his accident that will turn him into The Flash [if you've not seen the midseason finale of Arrow, you can watch the climax here] and The CW is gearing up for the Scarlett Speedster’s standalone pilot, it’s time for show creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter to start thinking about filling out the supporting cast around Grant Gustin’s DC Comics superhero.

So, who they gonna call? Well, it seems that Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson could be up for a role, with the actor revealing on the Cross the Streams podcast (via CBM) that, “I’m meeting the creators next week. So, I have to prepare for that.” When asked which role he was in contention for, Hudson stated “[Barry's] adoptive dad, or the dad of…” before cutting himself off, leading us to assume he’s talking about Detective West, the father of Iris West, who was described in a recent casting call as…

Late 40s to Early 50s – African American -Detective West is an honest, blue-collar cop who’s seen it all. A soulful, funny caring father to Iris, and a surrogate father to Barry, West came up through the foster system himself. He took in Barry after his mother’s murder and his father’s imprisonment.
