Trailer released for David Gordon Green’s Joe starring Nicolas Cage

After warm independent comedy Prince Avalanche, it seems director David Gordon Green’s next project is sporting a more serious demeanour, with gritty drama / thriller Joe, and we’ve got the first trailer below which you can watch after the official synopsis….

In the dirty unruly world of small-town Texas, ex-convict Joe Ransom has tried to put his dark past behind him and to live a simple life. He works for a lumber company by day, drinks by night. But when 15-year-old Gary – a kid trying to support his family – comes to town, desperate for work, Joe has found a way to atone for his sins – to finally be someone’s hero. As Joe tries to protect Gary, the pair will take the twisting road to redemption in the hope for a better life in this tough, hard-hitting but incredibly moving story.

Leading the cast of Joe is veteran Nicolas Cage (Stolen, The Frozen Ground) opposite up-and-coming star Tye Sheridan (Mud, The Tree of Life).

Joe is set for release on April 11th in the US and July 25th here in the UK. Read our ★★★★ review here
