A decade ago there was a lot of swearing, sex, and gun duels taking place in a HBO series created by David Milch (NYPD Blue) where the Wild Old West was brought to life in Deadwood.
In order to mark the occasion viewers will be able to watch again the battle of wits between Sheriff Seth Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) and saloon owner Al Swearengen (Ian McShane) who views the town to be his own private enterprise; the speciality channel will be airing all 36 episodes back-to-back commencing Saturday March 15, 2014 @ 10 a.m. (ET/PT) and finishing Sunday, March 16, at 10 p.m..
Also on April 2, 2014, HBO Signature will be running one Deadwood episode every weeknight, Monday to Friday at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) starting Wednesday, April 2, 2014. The Western featured historical characters such as Wild Bill Hickok, Sol Star, Calamity Jane, Wyatt Earp, George Crook, E. B. Farnum, Charlie Utter, Jack McCall, and George Hearst as well as the acting talents of Molly Parker (Marion Bridge), Jim Beaver (Dark and Stormy Night), W. Earl Brown (Draft Day), Dayton Callie (The Motel Life), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl), Brad Dourif (Mississippi Burning), Anna Gunn (Enemy of the State), John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone), Powers Boothe (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For), and Keith Carradine (The Duellists).
After receiving the documentary treatment with The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town (2010), Bruce Springsteen has reunited with Grammy and Emmy winning filmmaker Thom Zimny to chronicle the production of his 18th studio album High Hopes in the appropriately titled Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes (2014).
Fans of “The Boss” will be treated to behind-the-scenes studio and rehearsal segments, exclusive E Street Band tour footage plus interviews with Springsteen and his album collaborator Tom Morello whom he toured Australia with back in 2013. The musical handiwork of Morello who is best known for being the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave is featured on several tracks such as The Ghost of Tom Joad where he also contributes vocals.
Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes airs April 4, 2014 on HBO with the native of New Jersey reappearing on the speciality channel a month later as he and the E Street Band will be part of the induction ceremony held by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
