Yesterday Marvel Studios announced that filming was underway on the first Phase Three offering of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Peyton Reed-directed Ant-Man, before the first official image of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang was released today. And now, thanks to Flickering Myth reader Jordan Steinmetz and his sister Riley Steinmetz, we’ve got a brief description of today’s filming, as well as a few set photos from San Francisco. They’re petty unrevealing, but we do have a glimpse of Peyton Reed directing the action. Here’s what was happening…
“The scene being filmed today was filmed at an intersection, and included fake rain and a woman walking a dog. They were filming under the name “Bigfoot”, and some old-school delivery trucks were spotted, so possibly a scene set in the past.”
Riley also mentioned that she didn’t notice any of the leads on set, but did spot someone wearing an Avengers: Age of Ultron crew jacket. So, could this be a post credits scene for next year’s Avengers sequel?
Ant-Man is set for release on July 17, 2015, with Peyton Reed (The Break-Up) directing a cast that includes Paul Rudd (I Love You Man) as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas (Behind The Candelabra) as Dr. Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll (House of Cards) as Darren Cross / Yellowjacket, John Slattery (Iron Man 2) as Howard Stark and Bobby Cannavale (The Long Play), Michael Peña (American Hustle), Abby Ryder Fortson (Togetherness), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight), Wood Harris (The Wire), Gregg Turkington (The Comedy) and T.I. (American Gangster) in as yet-unrevealed roles.
