Back in June, Sony Pictures almost kicked off an international incident with the release of the first trailer for The Interview, the upcoming comedy from This Is the End duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg which sees Rogen and James Franco’s TV journalists recruited by the CIA for an assassination attempt on Kim Jong-un.
Unsurprisingly, North Korea wasn’t too impressed on a film poking fun at its illustrious leader and demonstrating “the desperation of the U.S. government and American society”, and now it seems that Sony is looking to try and calm the tension by digitally altering thousands of military decorations worn by characters in the film, as well as potentially cutting a scene where Kim Jong-un’s face “is melted off graphically in slow motion.”
The Interview is set for release on October 10th in the States and October 29th in the UK… assuming North Korea hasn’t unleashed its nuclear arsenal by that point.
