As you’re no doubt aware, the trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron leaked ahead of its planned reveal during next week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., with Marvel Studios subsequently releasing the trailer officially. In the trailer we got our first look at the villain Ultron in action, along with his chilling voice, and now actor James Spader has spoken to Total Film about the AI bad guy.
“There’s a humerous aspect to him, which is something that drew me in from the very first conversation I had with Joss [Whedon],” Spader revealed. “In many ways he’s a child, this character, because he’s a brand new being who’s just come to be. And yet, through artificial intelligence, he has an incredible capacity for knowledge. So he’s a very powerful, smart child.”
Spader was asked about comparing the character of Ultron to Raymond Reddington whom Spader portrays in the hit series The Blacklist , stating: “Red isn’t psychopathic but Ultron is. Yes, he is psychopathic. He’s really batshit crazy!”
Avengers: Age of Ultron is set for release in the UK on April 24th 2015 and North America on May 1st 2015 with Joss Whedon directing a cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L.
