Leonardo DiCaprio is now no longer up for playing Apple founder Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic for Sony. DiCaprio was attached to the film with Danny Boyle set to direct.
The two had previously worked together on The Beach back in 2000. DiCaprio was in talks to star in the project after shooting The Revenant which is due to start production this week, however the actor has bowed out of the project completely.
In recent interviews DiCaprio has stated that he wanted a break for a while, having shot Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street consecutively. Having taken this break and starting work on The Revenant, it would appear that DiCaprio does not want to shoot films back to back again.
Following DiCaprio’s departure, Sony is now said to be looking at Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper for the role of Steve Jobs. The film is aiming for a 2016 release with Danny Boyle still directing.
