A new trailer/extended TV spot has been released for Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, this time focusing more upon the DIRTY TECHNO RAVE RAVE RAVE undertones of the film. Although the trailers up until now have contained Jay Gatsby’s (Leonardo DiCaprio) lavish parties, they’ve been tinged with the underlying sadness at the heart of his character. This latest one, however, makes the movie look like a feature-length box social:
The film’s soundtrack is a central part of its marketing campaign, as the end of the trailer shows: Jay Z (who is also co-writing the original music score), Beyonce, Andre 3000, Will.i.am, Fergie, Q Tip, Lana Del Ray, Florence and the Machine, The Bryan Ferry Orchestra (spot the odd one out), The XX, Gotye, Nero and Sia all feature. The track listing’s talent is on par with the film’s actors.
It’s just a shame Luhrmann didn’t include this:
The Great Gatsby is directed by Luhrman and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton and Tobey Maguire. It’s out on the 10th and 16th May this year in the US and UK, respectively.
