Those of you lucky enough to see pilot for the CW’s upcoming series The Flash may have noticed a little easter egg pertaining to one of the scarlet speedster’s most beloved and outlandish villains: Gorilla Grodd. Well, according to DC Chief Creative Officer and The Flash executive producer Geoff Johns, that wasn’t an accident.
During the massive Warner Bros./DC Television panel at San Diego Comic-Con late Saturday night, Johns himself said,
“You will see Grodd. That cage is not a mistake.”
Now that’s not much to go on, but it is confirmation from Johns himself, so somehow, somewhere down the line, Gorilla Grodd will show up. How they’ll pull off a hyper-intelligent, super-strong, telepathic gorilla on a TV budget remains to be seen, but based on the effects they’ve been able to pull off for the Flash himself, anything is possible.
“After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion – and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become… The Flash.”
The Flash is set to premiere on The CW on October 7th, with Grant Gustin (Glee) leading the cast alongside Candice Patton (The Game) as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order) as Detective West, Patrick Sabongui (Almost Human) as David Singh, Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th) as Caitlin Snow, Rick Gosnett (The Vampire Diaries) as Eddie Thawne, Broadway star Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Michelle Harrison (Emily Owens, MD) as Nora Allen, Tom Cavanagh (Ed) as Harrison Wells, Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) as Firestorm, Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) as Captain Cold and William Sadler (Iron Man 3) as Simon Stagg.
