For a while now fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Metal Gear Solid V, but almost a year after its prelude game Ground Zeroes there is still no release date for The Phantom Pain. We know that the game will be released some time in 2015 but that is really all we have to go on… until now.
During a presentation at The Game Awards, MGS creator Hideo Kojima was seen wearing a shirt with Swedish words on it which read “Tjugoan Den Sjatte”. Frankly this meant nothing until Reddit users translated this. Tjugoan means 22nd and Den Sjatte means the 6th, so it is assumed this means that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set for release on June 22nd, 2015.
The reason that the shirt was in Swedish is a reference to back when the game was only known as The Phantom Pain and we were not aware of it being a Metal Gear Solid game. The Phantom Pain was being developed by a fake company called Moby Dick Studio which was a Swedish company, headed by a Swedish CEO called Joakim Morgren.
Kojima is known for trolling fans so it is hard to know if this is a legitimate tease or even just pure coincidence. Do you think this indicates the actual release date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? Let us know…
