Jennifer Saunders says Absolutely Fabulous movie will happen this year

January 5, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Following on from the 20th anniversary episodes in 2012, it looks like Edina and Patsy are heading to the big screen, with Jennifer Saunders revealing to the Sunday People that she intends on shooting an Absolutely Fabulous movie this year.

“I’ve finished the first draft,” said Saunders, who will be joined in the cast by Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha and June Whitfield. “I’m feeling euphoric. My proper New Year’s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it’ll be a pointless year of procrastination.”

Speaking back in 2012, Saunders revealed her plans for the film’s plot, stating that: “Eddy and Patsy are looking for what they imagine glamorous life should be. They’re constantly searching for that perfect place to sit or that perfect pair of sunglasses. It’s Shangri-La and it just might be round the next corner. In the meantime, they decide to take Saffy’s daughter off her – she calls her Jane, I call her Lola – but then they lose her.”
