The Doctor has taken many forms (13, in fact) over the course of Doctor Who‘s 5o year history, but now he’ll regenerate into a far more playful form: that of a 4cm LEGO minifigure.
LEGO Group and BBC Worldwide announced today that an official Doctor Who LEGO set will be hitting store shelves later on this year. The new set is part of the LEGO Ideas project, which asks LEGO enthusiasts to create and vote on their own sets. Those that get over 10,000 votes from the community are sent to the people in charge, who then look over a handful of hopeful candidates and select which set will become an official LEGO product.
Past winners include the DeLorean from Back to the Future, the ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters (complete with the original film’s four characters), Minecraft, and more. Also announced was a Wall-E set, based of course on the Pixar film of the same name. That set was actually designed by one of the film’s animators. You can check out his prototype here:
There are no details on what will be included in the new Doctor Who set, but it’s sure to include an awesome TARDIS, and that’s good enough for me.
Tell us, will you be getting your hands on the Doctor Who and Wall-E LEGO sets when it hits store shelves later this year? Sound off in the comments.
