Announced yesterday, Star Wars: Episode VIII (though it likely won’t keep that name) is arriving sooner than we thought, and will hit cinemas on May 26th 2017.
While it didn’t seem like that would have a knock on effect, it apepars as though 20th Century Fox is keen to move The Fantastic Four 2 from June 2nd 2017, pushing it back seven days to give the Josh Trank directed sequel a full two weeks for the Star Wars: Episode VIII buzz to die down. Fantastic Four 2 will now be released on June 9th 2017.
With Guardians of the Galaxy 2 being released earlier in May, it’s probably a smart move for Fox to move The Fantastic Four 2 to ensure a number one position at the box office.
THE FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.
The Fantastic Four is set for release on August 7th with Josh Trank directing a cast that includes Miles Teller (Whiplash) as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara (American Horror Story) as the Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station) as the Human Torch, Jamie Bell (Nymphomaniac) as The Thing, Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Doctor Doom, Reg E. Cathey (The Wire) as Dr. Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk) as Harvey Elder.
