Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced that the upcoming action-comedy Pixels has set a new studio record for trailer views, with over 34 million worldwide views in its first 24 hours of release online.
Released across the globe via various Sony platforms including their electronic, retail, online (including Sony PlayStation networks) and television avenues, Pixels beat the previous record holder, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with 22 million views, to become the studio’s number one trailer launch.
In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. Directed by Chris Columbus, the film stars Adam Sandler (The Wedding Singer), Michelle Monaghan (Playing it Cool), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Kevin James (Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2), Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), Sean Bean (Jupiter Ascending), Josh Gad (Frozen) and Brian Cox (The Bourne Identity).

Pixels is released in the US on July 24th, and later in the UK on August 12th.
