Having placed a full series order last week, CBS has now announced that its upcoming DC Comics adaptation Supergirl is set to premiere on Monday nights at 8pm, which would put it head-to-head with the second season of Gotham on Fox (assuming Gotham keeps the same timeslot when it returns).
Accompanying the news are two banners featuring Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, along with a couple of images showing Kara Zorl-El in her civvies with Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) and our first look at Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart)…
Based on the DC Comics character, the drama tells the story of Kara Zor-El, who was born on the planet Krypton, but escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin Superman. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
Supergirl sees Melissa Benoist (Whiplash) leading a cast that also includes Chyler Leigh (Grey’s Anatomy) as Alexandra Danvers, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as Cat Grant, Laura Benanti (Nashville) as Alura Zor-El, David Harewood (Selfie) as Hank Henshaw, Mechad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) as Jimmy Olsen, Jeremy Jordan (The Last Five Years) as Winslow Schott, Owain Yeoman (The Mentalist) as Vartox, Faran Tahir (Iron Man) as The Commander and Dean Cain (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Helen Slater (Supergirl) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
