In October of last year, it was revealed that iconic Ghostface mask from Scream would not be present in MTV’s upcoming small screen spinoff, and now thanks to EW we’ve got our first look at the new mask set to be worn by the killer(s?) in the TV series…
“The new mask is cool and scary and takes the series into a new direction,” states Wes Craven, director of all four Scream movies, and executive producer on the series. “It also ties into the story, which I won’t give away.”
“The [original] mask is so iconic,” adds executive producer Jaime Paglia. “If you were to have that mask in a television series, but you weren’t following any of the characters [from the original], I believe that would be misleading the audience.”

Scream the series will follow the aftermath of a cyber-bullying incident that results in a shocking murder. The brutal event brings back memories from of past killing spree that has haunted some, possibly inspires a new killer and brings together a new group of teens.
Scream: The TV series is set to premiere on June 30th, with a cast that includes Bella Thorne, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Willa Fitzgerald, Jason Wiles, John Karna, Connor Weil, Carlson Young, Dale Heidenreich, Tracy Middendorf, Bobby Campo, Tom Maden and Brianne Tju.
