Having debuted at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable a couple of weeks ago, it was revealed that Samoa Joe (aka Nuufolau Joel Seanoa) had signed a very special deal with WWE similar to Rhyno that allowed him to still take bookings elsewhere as well as continue working with Ring of Honor. But when Destination America announced that they had signed ROH to a new TV deal, the question was asked about what would happen with Samoa Joe and NXT?
Well, now we have our answer.
According to PWTorch, Joe has signed a new deal with WWE that will see him go to NXT full-time. Their source had said that both Vince McMahon and Paul “Triple H” Levesque were really impressed with him at the NXT tapings in Orlando as well as his merchandise sales, but Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer said that it was solely down to the Destination America deal. ROH still believe he will be working their TV taping where he will team with AJ Styles to take on Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. Meltzer also said on Wrestling Observer Radio with Bryan Alverez that WWE wanted to sign him to bolster up the NXT roster given that Kevin Owens is moving to the main roster and both Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami are on the injured list.
