Multiplayer has always been the focus of Star Wars Battlefront, says developer DICE.
Speaking to GameSpot in an interview, studio general manager Patrick Bach was asked whether or not the decision to not include a single-player mode was made as a result of needing to launch before the release of the upcoming movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Despite the release date influencing some of DICE’s early design choices, they never came to the stage of starting work on a single-player mode.
“To be honest, single-player was never in the plan,” Bach said. “It was never the concept.
“The concept for us was always that we wanted players to re-live the battles. We wanted them to play the battles from the original movies. And DICE, coming from its Battlefield background, knows how to make awesome battles in that context.”
Star Wars Battlefront launches on November 17th on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
