We know that Marvel has Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist on its Netflix slate as the streaming service builds to The Defenders, but if a new rumours is to be believed Marvel may be taking a leaf of out DC’s Suicide Squad book with a Thunderbolts series.
The rumour comes by way of The Hashtag Show, which offers up no further information beyond the nugget that a Thunderbolts show is in development. The timing seems a little odd, given that Marvel and Netflix were discussing their upcoming slate at the Television Critics Association summer press tour yesterday, but The Hastag Show has been on the mark about stuff in the past, so perhaps the series is too early into development for an official announcement.
First appearing in 1997 as a team of supervillains led by Baron Zemo, Thunderbolts are typically depicted as a team of reformed villains or antiheroes, with the most recent Marvel NOW! roster featuring the Red Hulk, Deadpool, Elektra, Agent Venom and Punisher.
