About Ray, the new transgender drama that debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, has been pulled from its scheduled release this weekend, Deadline reports.
The film, which was purchase by the Weinstein Company for a cool $6 million, was due to be released this weekend (September 18th) but has now been pulled and will be released some time later in the year. The Weinstein Company sese the film as a Oscar hopeful, and are now planning to release the film closer to award season to maximise its box office and critical returns.

Directed by Gaby Dellal (On A Clear Day), About Ray follows a New York teen (Elle Fanning) who transitions from female to male, while his mother (Naomi Watts) adjusts to having a son. Susan Sarandon (Thelma and Louise) co-stars.
