The Smackdown curse for Rusev continues as it was reported coming out of Tuesday night’s tapings of the show that WWE superstar Rusev suffered an injury and his match had to be stopped early.
Reports from fans stated that the match between Rusev and Neville was cut short when Rusev suffered the injury, however the Bulgarian shouted at the timekeeper for stopping the match to make it look like an angle. However several sources have now told PWInsider that Rusev suffered a torn bicep and will now be out injured for a few months. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer also confirmed the injury was legit, but has no confirmation on how long he’ll be out for.
It’s a tough break for Rusev, who went from facing John Cena at WrestleMania to being part of a comedy angle with Dolph Ziggler that was cut short when he announced his proposal to real-life girlfriend Lana on TMZ. WWE had been running an angle where Lana had left Rusev to go with Dolph and Summer Rae had been teamed with Rusev instead, but that was scrapped when the TMZ story broke and Rusev has been punished ever since. Rusev also suffered an injury at a Smackdown taping last year when he broke his foot, forcing him to wear boots as part of his ring gear now.
