In some bad news for WWE, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was helped from the ring last night in Dublin, Ireland after landing on his knee awkwardly.
The injury came during his title defense against Kane, where Rollins went to powerbomb The Demon through a table off the top rope following a sunset flip. But after landing on the flip, Rollins’ knee gave way and he rolled to the outside. Rollins continued the match and even did the planned powerbomb spot, but was helped out of the ring and to the back by medics.
There’s no word yet on the severity of the injury, and Rollins is scheduled to defend the title against Kane on the London show, which takes place tomorrow. If he works that match, it’s safe to assume that the injury wasn’t too bad.
If he is injured, however, it couldn’t have come at a worse time for the company. Following their 18-year-record-breaking low ratings on Monday, WWE is in need of star power. With John Cena on sabbatical, Randy Orton out injured, Undertaker missing for storyline purposes and Brock Lesnar not back until the new year, WWE is in desperate need of top stars.
Rollins is scheduled to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series in two weeks.
