Since the news broke that AJ Styles had left NJPW to sign with WWE along with Shinkse Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson, the rumours were that he would appear at their flagship show Royal Rumble. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer furthered this rumour by saying one of the four would be at the event, and now Styles himself is doing some teasing of his own.
At a Revolution Pro Wrestling event in the UK over the weekend (where he lost the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship to Zack Sabre), Styles took to the mic to talk about his future plans. And although the crowd lead him in ‘Royal Rumble’ chants, he plays up to it rather well.
“I’m not sure what the future holds for me, I’ll tell you what. If I’m not recovering from some weird armbar submission hold, and there’s a spot in the Royal Rumble,” he said before the crowd cut him off with chants of ‘yes’ and ‘you deserve it’. “I’ll tell you what. I don’t deserve a thing, and I don’t deserve you, but if You book me in that royal rumble I’m going to kick some ass for you guys!”
