Over the weekend at his live podcast Hollywood Babble-On, Kevin Smith announced his new TV pilot Hollyweed, which he describes as “Clerks in a pot store.”
Smith announced he is currently filming the pilot for the show which has been financed by Starstream, who helped fund his latest film Yoga Hosers. Hollyweed takes place at a dispensary called L.A. Confidential (which is a real shop) and will feature Smith as one of the lead characters alongside Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle’s Show), who he describes as the show’s Randal in reference to his first feature film Clerks.
Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood) stars as the owner of a cookie store across the street. Also in the cast are Smith’s real-life daughter Harley Quinn-Smith (Yoga Hosers) who will play his on-screen daughter, Frankie Shaw (Mr. Robot) and Jason Mewes (Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back). Smith’s Hollywood Babble-On co-presenter Ralph Garman will also feature in the pilot.
