Fast & Furious franchise star Vin Diesel has unveiled the first official Fast 8 photo on his Instagram account. Interestingly enough, the picture not only is a nice tease for fans anxiously awaiting the eight installment, but it also confirms that the film will primarily be shooting in New York City, considering that the image shows many of the city’s skyscrapers, including the Empire State Building. The tagline “New Roads Ahead” goes to show that the series will be heading in a different direction with its next entry. See it for yourself here…
On top of NYC, reports also suggest that the film will do some shooting in Cuba.
Fast 8 will be the first film in the series since The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift to not feature Paul Walker, due to his untimely death in 2013.
Last year, Furious 7 defied expectations at the box office and further confirmed that the Fast & Furious franchise is a force to be reckoned with. The film earned a massive $1.5 billion worldwide and ended up as the third highest grossing film of 2015.
F. Gary Gray, coming off of his hugely successful 2015 film Straight Outta Compton, will direct a cast of such series veterans as Diesel (The Last Witch Hunter), Dwayne Johnson (San Andreas), Jason Statham (Spy), Michelle Rodriguez (Machete Kills), Tyrese Gibson (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) and Ludacris (Empire).
