Last year PLAY it! at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) Manchester was a fantastic success, being one of the most talked about events of 2015 and nominated for the City Life Awards. Flickering Myth attended the opening and you can read our report here if you missed it. Now in 2016 it’s due to return for the Easter Holidays and it’s bringing with it a taste of the Next-Gen.
Beginning on Friday March 25th and running all the way to April 17th 2016, in partnership with leading gaming specialists European Gaming League (EGL) this event has been designed to form part of the museum’s Power Easter holiday programme, there will be over 180 systems and thousands of games to play. From classic titles like Pong and Pacman to Lego and Halo you will not be left out, no matter what your skill level, beginners and experts, competitive dads, scary good mums, multiplayers, retro fans and everybody else in between.
New for 2016 will be the addition of Next Gen consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One, classic PC titles and a host of Disney and Batman games running alongside returning favourites like Mario Brothers and Sonic the Hedgehog. Along with this there will be the very latest in Virtual Reality technology.
Once again the entire room will be split up into multiple zones, featuring the most loved and popular games linked by theme, so you can easily find what you want to play – from Atari and SEGA to PlayStation and Nintendo.
Along with this at PLAY it! Manchester offers players the perfect opportunity to experience science, technology, engineering and maths up-close and live. You’ll be able to get your hands on some of the early programmable computers and classic 80s educational games. These will be placed next to the most current and contemporary of games, to highlight just how far and fast the gaming culture has developed in the last 30 years.
Additional Power themed activities will also run alongside PLAY it! Manchester at the museum during the Easter holidays. PLAY it! Manchester is recommended for ages 5 +
