Deadpool is out this week. Here’s a character guide.Comic book movies have a new super villain, but it’s neither Lex Luthor, or David S. Goyer betraying the moral nature of a character. The answer is far more sinister… children’s toy sets, often LEGO.
Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice have both had tie-in LEGO sets spoil key details of the films, and now the evil bricks have a new victim – Deadpool.
Make this movie.Of course, that LEGO set is a joke, but you can’t help wondering whether if Deadpool’s pitch originally contained him riding a winged horse in space, the film would’ve been commissioned immediately. Deadpool vs Wolverine certainly would be. Instead, as Ryan Reynolds has revealed, it took over a decade to get the green light, the final decision coming 24 hours after the test footage leaked.
Yep, we’ve got a t-shirt for that. Click this image to buy.And now, after eleven years of development purgatory, the movie is out this week to a 15 rating in the UK, with an “absurd” sex montage. Here’s to persistence.
Did someone say ‘sex montage’?In a actual toy spoiler story, the LEGO sets from the Ghostbusters reboot might have given something away. If you don’t want to see what it is, enjoy this spoiler-free first look at Chris Hemsworth as the film’s receptionist. He looks like Thor’s camp cousin on work experience.
“We could call the Hulk? Oh…wrong cinematic universe.”I’d say this Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ‘Superman barbie doll’ similarly spoils Kal-El’s character, but Zack Snyder did that years ago. Defending Man of Steel yet again, the director claimed “if you’re a comic book fan, you know that I didn’t change Superman.” I read the comics. He changed Superman.
