Styles Clash Banned in WWE?
Our top story today is whether the Styles Clash has been banned in the WWE.
“Whaddya talking about! He used it to beat Curtis Axel on Smackdown last month and he used it in his match against Chris Jericho at Fastlane.” Yes, I know stereotypical 1920s New Yorker, but outside of those two times, he’s been using his Calf Crusher submission hold to end his matches. It’s got people wondering why he hasn’t been using the Styles Clash as his regular finishing move.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that this is actually a Vince McMahon call. Vince reportedly heard about Yoshitatsu breaking his neck after he incorrectly took the move in November 2014 and now doesn’t want it to be used in WWE. This isn’t the only career ending injury the Styles Clash has caused either, as British wrestler Lionheart also had his neck broken in a similar fashion against AJ in March 2014. He has since been very outspoken about banning the move.
Apparently, Chris Jericho fought to have the move included in the Fastlane match. This could be a sign that it has now been “okayed,” but Styles will likely stick with the Calf Crusher going forward.
Top NXT Star Debuting at Wrestlemania?
Former NXT Champion Sami Zayn could be set to make his WWE main roster debut at Wrestlemania 32, according to a report from the Wrestling Observer.
Zayn is also booked for the post-Wrestlemania tour of Europe, indicating that this could indeed be a permanent call up. Or he’s doing translation work on the side. The guy can speak, like, 4 languages. He should form a tag team with Cesaro called Google Translate.
Exactly what he will be doing at Wrestlemania isn’t known just yet, but make sure to stick around for today’s final story for a few possibilities.
Full Wrestlemania Card Set
And finally, according to a report from the Wrestling Observer, the full Wrestlemania 32 card has now been set. And we have it right here for you! So, obviously, if you don’t want to be spoiled, skip ahead about a minute.
According to the report, as well as the already announced top matches of Triple H vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar and Shane McMahon vs. The Undertaker, there will be six more matches on the show.
These will include Charlotte defending the Divas Championship against Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match, Kevin Owens defending the Intercontinental title in some sort of multi man match, the New Day facing the League of Nations, likely in a six man tag, another men’s singles match, another Divas match and the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Now, going back to our previous story, Sami Zayn could easily fit into the Andre Battle Royal or continue his feud with Kevin Owens in that multi man title match, so expect to see him in either of those.
As for celebrity involvement on the show, no outside names are currently set to appear, meaning that the teased Stardust vs. Stephen Amell match may not be happening after all.
However, The Rock, Steve Austin, Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels are all expected to be involved on the show somehow.
Our question for you today is: What do you think of the reported card for Wrestlemania 32?
