It was a big night for NXT call ups on The Raw After WrestleMania last year with The Lucha Dragons and Neville making their ‘Main Roster’ debuts, and last night was no different.
The 2016 Raw After WrestleMania was stacked full of call-ups with Apollo Crews making his debut defeating Tyler Breeze in a squash match, Enzo & Cass beginning a feud with The Dudley Boyz and Baron Corbin going to a double count-out with Dolph Ziggler. It was also announced that former NXT Tag Team Champions The Vaudevillains would make their first ‘Main Roster’ appearance on this week’s Smackdown.
Crews was the biggest surprise of the lot, having only been in NXT for around a year and not really having much of a presence during that time. He had a couple of NXT Championship matches with Finn Balor, but was last seen in a short-lived feud with Elias Sampson that was so forgettable it was bumped off the NXT Takeover: Dallas show.
Baron Corbin debuted at WrestleMania 32 on Sunday winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but this was his official Raw appearance. Once he won the Battle Royal on Sunday, it was thought that he was making his move to the ‘Main Roster’. Enzo & Cass had also featured on WWE’s Roadblock special for the WWE Network in a losing effort with the then-NXT Tag Team Champions, The Revival. They have been doing a lot of ‘Main Roster’ house show tours, so this call-up was just a matter of time.
The Vaudevillains will have to wait until tomorrow night for their debut as they will be a part of the Smackdown tapings.
