Another WWE Talent Released
Our top story today is the rumoured backstage heat between Shane McMahon and Stephanie and Triple H, but first – the mass WWE releases continue.
PWInsider are reporting that long time employee of the company The Brooklyn Brawler – whose real name is Steve Lombardi – was quietly let go from his contract last week. At the time, WWE didn’t publicly report this, but Lombardi’s name was included in the long list of releases from Future Endeavours Friday, along with Damien Sandow, Wade Barrett, Cameron, Santino, Zeb Colter, El Torito, Hornswoggle and Alex Riley. WWE have now confirmed Lombardi is indeed no longer with them.
WWE announcers Rich Brennan and Kyle Edwards were also let go the week before this, and there are said to be more releases on the way.
Lombardi has been with WWE since the 1980s, where he wrestled mainly as an enhancement talent – which means someone who loses to other wrestlers in order to make them look good. In recent years, he has worked backstage as a road agent, along with a few sporadic in-ring appearances.
Bullet Club Gets A New Member
With the majority of infamous New Japan Pro Wrestling faction the Bullet Club now under contract at WWE – including Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson – the heel group has been in need of adding a few more names.
Well at last weekend’s Ring of Honour event Global Wars, their newest recruit was unveiled – Adam Cole, bay bay.
In the main event for the ROH World Championship between Jay Lethal and Colt Cabana, the lights went off, and when they came back on, Adam Cole was standing in the middle of the ring with his new Bullet Club bros. They proceeded to attack everyone – referees, female valets, a bunch of officials and ROH announcers Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino/Mr Wrestling #3. It probably goes without saying, but there were a lot of superkicks. Bullet Club, bay bay!
