The Week in Movies discusses the last seven days in cinema, including rumours of Ben Affleck feeling “humiliated” behind the scenes at the reaction to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the first trailer for the Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin’s Creed, a reported cameo for Tom Hardy in Star Wars: Episode VIII and much, much more…

DC are working on a Booster Gold film! DC are working on a Booster Gold film! DC are working on a Booster Gold film!DC are working on a Booster Gold film!
…so, in case you haven’t heard, DC are working on a Booster Gold film.I can’t wait for the gritty, Zack Snyder interpretation.
In lesser, non-Booster Gold film happenings over at DC, Ben Affleck is rumoured to be “humiliated” over the critical and commercial reaction to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Potentially in response to this – and the reported “fights” between director Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. – he’s been elevated to an Executive Producer position on Justice League. He’s preparing for this role by training as an accountant (what a trailer, by the way).
Willem Dafoe’s character in the movie is rumoured to be one of Aquaman’s fellow Atlanteans. The Atlantean community are outraged that a surface-dweller has been cast. And over in Themyscira, Gal Gadot has announced Wonder Woman has wrapped production. When will this water washing stop?
The DC Extended Universe will soon be trailing Marvel’s at the box office. Just over two weeks after its international opening, Captain America: Civil War has already passed the $800 million mark (as has Jungle Book) and will soon overtake Batman v Superman. That’s what happens when Disney pay critics to trash Warner Bros. films*pauses from typing to dive into enormous vat of gold coins*
Civil War’s writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have since revealed Spider-Man was in, out, in, out, spider-web it all about for the movie. And they explained why Thanos wasn’t in it at all. But one person who will definitely feature in the MCU is Michael B. Jordan in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie. Weirdly, that marks the second actor after Chris Evans to play The Human Torch in a Fox-produced Fantastic Four film to then appear in a Marvel movie.Jordan’s on fire!
If Jordan doesn’t make it to Avengers: Infinity War, though, the Russo brothers will still get to hang out with him for their Thomas Crown Affair remake.…wait, no, he’s too hot. FOR GOD’S SAKE, GET SOME WATER!
X-Men: Apocalypse is the next big superhero movie to come out. Read my review of the movie, and then complement it with my interview with the Grand Architect of the X-Verse, Simon Kinberg. We spoke about a X-Men/Marvel crossover, what went wrong with last year’s Fantastic Four film and where the hell is our Gambit movie!? He was such a fascinating guy, I almost forgave him for writing the third X-Men movie.Almost.
Head to the next page for the first Assassin’s Creed trailer, rumours of Tom Hardy appearing in Star Wars: Episode VIII, the week’s best two trailers and much, much more…
